10 pictures on the 10th day of the month!

Here are the photos from Saturday…the 10th of March. I have a few more than 10 photos but that’s okay!
Saturday started with coffee and laying in bed reading Beartown. This is the March book of the month for my book club! I was a little hesitant starting the story because it’s pretty detailed and there are a lot of characters, so it took a while to build up to any real events. Now that I am about halfway through the story, I really like it!

Then, I made brunch that included veggie omelettes and pancakes for Joe and I. Can we talk for a minute about these eggs?! I cracked SIX eggs and all of them had a double yolk!

This Saturday was a cut back week regarding our long run..so we set out for five miles. There are so many trails in Arlington and I love it. We ran a mile through the trail on the left…Lubber Run Park. Then we made it to the W&OD and Custis Trails for a bit before getting back to the main streets in our part of town.

45 degrees still calls for long sleeves and a headband to cover my ears for me. 🙂

It was a lazy afternoon after our run…cleaning up, getting ready for the day, a little Xbox playing by Joe. We ate a late lunch at Buffalo Wild Wings. Honey barbecue boneless wings and a Caesar salad, because I like vegetables with all my meals. We also got macaroni and cheese to share!

Happy hour took us to the Cherry Blossom pop up bar in Shaw. For the past few holidays, several bars have banded together to create “theme” pop ups. There’s been Miracle on 7th St for Christmas, a Game of Thrones theme, and the Cherry Blossom Pub in the spring. One thing you must know about this is that it always includes a nice wait in line.

The sun was still up when we arrived, but by the time we were close to the door, it was much chillier. We entertained ourselves people watching, counting the number of people in front of or behind us, and watching cars attempt to parallel park. I guess if you can have fun doing that for an hour and ten minutes, you can have fun doing anything, right?!

The only good thing about waiting in such a long line is that you know you will have room to move and enjoy once you are inside, since they are so careful about how many people go in at once. I ordered the Calpico Fizz and Joe had the Cherry Blossom Lager. Both were super sweet! I was kind of tempted to order the drink that came garnished with a Rice Krispy treat. I mean, why wouldn’t you?! Instead, I made do with the marshmallow and strawberry that came with mine. 🙂

Other decorations beyond the Japanese cherry blossoms included Monarch butterflies and Godzilla.

Saturday the 10th wrapped up with dinner and a movie on the couch by 8 PM. A perfect day!

10 on 10 [November]

Ten pictures on the 10th day of the month!

{Document a snapshot of your life & find beauty among the ordinary things in your day!}

I love reading this post on Mel’s blog each month, and I did my own take on it once too…but that was back in March of 2015!

Friday, November 10

This day began with a morning run. 3 miles around Arlington and I got to see the sunrise! It was a cool, brisk morning which is so welcomed after many months of heat and humidity. When I got home, I found myself ready to leave for work early. This only happens on mornings when I wake up to work out!

Starbucks is across the street from my apartment and also right outside the metro stop, so I treated myself to a coffee, all in the name of getting to carry around a holiday cup. #basic

Then I took the metro and walked to work, so I was very happy with my step count for the day. 😉 And of course I had to snap a picture of the pretty leaves even though I was carrying Christmas in my hand.

It was a pretty normal Friday in the office. I did some work in the morning to get online courses ready for the Spring semester, and then I had three back to back meetings that filled the afternoon. I ended up not eating lunch until 2:30 PM and I was HANGRY! I also very much enjoyed my outfit of the day, which included my new black jeans, a blanket scarf, and the comfiest flats.

The lunchtime hangry-ness carried over into the evening and I requested an early dinner. 🙂 I took Joe to Pupatella for the first time (his, not mine) and it was so delicious! The restaurant prides themselves on their Neapolitan technique for cooking the pizza, which includes four-ingredient crust made fresh and wood-fired ovens. You order in line, and then cross your fingers that a table is available, and we were some of the lucky ones! There was a wine tasting going on, so we took advantage of that while we waited for our pizza and took home a bottle of sparkling white wine. You’d think I would have taken photos of this, no?

I had the Eggplant & Red Pepper pizza with added prosciutto and Joe ordered a classic Pepperoni pizza with bacon!

Then it was back home with our new bottle of wine because there were important things to do like watch the 300th episode of Grey’s Anatomy and finish the second season of Stranger Things. We try to be as exciting as possible. 😉 And we felt the need to document our “fancy” shoes: my snakeskin flats and his blue suede shoes. #nowyou’resinging

So there you have a regular Friday in my life! The next 10 on 10 is my birthday and I will be traveling so the pictures will be fun. 🙂

10 on 10: March 2015

When I lay in bed at night, I replay my day in my head. What went right? What went wrong? Did anything especially important happen? What am I doing tomorrow? I’m sure we all have our own form of personal reflection, and in those moments, we really do remember how we felt, where we went, what we wore, who we interacted with…but as the days go by, the details fade and you really only remember the big events. Last weekend, I was crossing days off my training chart a few days late and I could not for the life of me remember what workout I completed on Thursday. I couldn’t even remember what I did on Thursday! I knew that I had class in the evening and I came home to watch Scandal, but everything before that was blank. It was probably like any other day. Wake up, workout, eat food, do homework, go to work, go to class…but since nothing earth-shattering happened last Thursday (thank goodness), the details had faded.

I have been reading Mel’s blog for about a year and I love her posts of the tenth of each month when she shares random bits from her day! It’s the little moments that will be the most fun to look back on. I’m linking up with Rebekah to find beauty in the ordinary. 🙂

Wearing florals because spring! I wanted to wear my nude flats but my feet have not adjusted to the flats life yet. I wore a new pair yesterday that are CRAZY comfy, but after being in boots all winter, my feet need to adjust. I do this with flip flops too. It’s weird and silly and requires me to ruin outfits such as these with Toms but a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do.

Not the prettiest picture…but worth remembering because I go through phases with meals. I don’t have a breakfast rotation…when I find something I like, I LIKE it. For a long time, I ate a scrambled egg with cheese on an Everything Bagel Thin and a Danimals drinkable yogurt (yes, I know I’m 23) for breakfast. Then I got creative and ate scrambled eggs with PB and banana. Next, the obsession was oatmeal with PB, cinnamon, chocolate chips, and banana. To add a little nutritional value back into my breakfast (read: protein), I started adding protein powder to my oats. The above photo shows you apple cinnamon oatmeal 🙂 Oats, milk, vanilla protein powder, cinnamon, and steamed apples. Current everyday breakfast.

The Vera bag of pain. You will find my laptop, my iPad, my books for class, my notebook for teaching at the gym, electronic device chargers, gym clothes, lunch, dinner, and snacks. I’m gone on Tuesday from 10 AM to 10 PM!

I like to study in a clean environment. My environment was clean, but my desk was not. In other news, I think I got a decent grade on my midterm. 😉

And even if I didn’t get a decent grade, at least my Dad believes in me. Hahaha

Don’t mess with me and my bag. And yoga mat. And umbrella.

It rained for approximately twelve hours today. BYE WINTER!

Walking in the rain. My favorite umbrella is missing. Target saved the day. Late. Wet. Rain boot didn’t do its job.

36 wonderful people came to PiYo class!

Frozen Shakeology and Pretty Little Liars with my roommate to end the day. 🙂
